5 Really Easy Daily Stress Busters

Working from home, running a family and
not quite certain which end is up sometimes? You’re not
alone. While being a work at home mom offers a tremendous
amount of benefits it can also be extremely stressful at
times.
A buildup of stress is like water in a
pipe. You have to let it flow occasionally or it will build
up and the pipe will bust. When stress is allowed to build
up health issues can arise, your happiness can be affected,
and your family and business can suffer.

Stress can lower your immune system. It can
cause headaches and digestive issues. Stress affects the quality of
sleep, mood, and even your eating habits. It also affects your
productivity and ability to focus. Everyone reacts to stress
differently and only you know when your pipes are about to burst. In
order to keep that from happening here are five really easy stress
busters you can fit into just about every day.
1. Get enough sleep. Yes, I know all the parents of small
children are rolling their eyes and saying “yeah, right.” One of the
benefits small children is naptime. Yes, naptime is probably one of
your more productive times but if you’re missing out on sleep during
the evening hours, consider sneaking a quick 20 minute nap while
your child sleeps. Even if you cannot sneak a nap every day, make it
a special treat, a luxury, and sneak a nap on Fridays.
2. Exercise. No, you don’t have to go out and run a marathon.
A quick walk around the block, especially on the sunny days, can do
a world of good for your spirits. It’s also great for your body
because the vitamin D, from the sunshine, helps everything from your
metabolism to your immune system.
3. Laugh. Some days, laughing is more difficult than others.
Find a favorite radio program, humorous blog, call a friend, or even
record your favorite funny television program and set aside time to
watch it. If all else fails, eavesdrop on your children, they’re
always good for a laugh.
4. Music. Music is a known stress buster. Music can calm the
spirit, rejuvenate you, and even inspire creativity. Pick a favorite
song that always puts you in a good mood or listen to the radio.
5. Establish a calming routine. For example, at the end of
the day sneak away for a bubble bath or a hot shower with your
favorite aromatherapy bath product. Drink a cup of your favorite
decaffeinated tea. Spend ten minutes outside with your pets or alone
watching the sun set. Meditate. Clean, yes clean. Cleaning is
therapeutic for many people. It gives you the ability to focus on a
single task.
While stress is a part of normal life, it doesn’t have to be a
dominant part and it certainly doesn’t have to affect your health or
happiness.
