Working Out with Your Toddler and Making it Fun For Both of You
|
|
Following a toddler around the home can
be a daily exercise regimen all on its own.
However, if working out with your
toddler and making it fun for both of you is your goal, then
here are some exercises you can incorporate into your day. |
Now that spring is here, you can take out the
jogging stroller and start your exercise regimen by walking your
baby around the block a few times a week and then slowly working up
to a jogger’s pace. Your child will have loads of fun and you will
as well because inevitably your toddler may say, “Faster, mommy,
faster.”
Another exercise you can do with a stroller and your toddler in tow
is squats. In fact, you may do it all the time without knowing it.
When you bend down to check on your toddler or if your toddler calls
to you while you’re walking, you step in front of the stroller and
bend down to see what’s wrong. Well, you can utilize a series of
squat exercises and make a game of it with your toddler.
At home, there are a number of exercises you can do with your
toddler, including: playing a music CD and dance, play an exercise
DVD for beginners and have your toddler workout along with you; lie
on the floor and do some leg lifts while your playing with the
toddler; lie on your back and lift the toddler; or do what toddlers
love to do – run around the house.
In the backyard, you can play games with your toddler on the lawn
such as rolling a ball, tag, jumping jacks, or any other activity
that may give you a good cardiovascular workout. Again, toddlers
love to run and keeping up with them can be the best workout of the
day.
There are fitness gyms specifically designed for moms and toddlers
which you can join in an effort to have a more regimented workout
routine while, at the same time, you’re your babies and toddlers
with you at all times. There is even a stroller workout program for
moms!
No matter what you choose, working out with your toddler and making
it a fun experience for both of you is all that matters.
